Peakhour vs Cloudflare Bot Management

Compare Cloudflare Enterprise Bot Management and simpler bot modes with Peakhour signals, route policies and request logs. Get practical evaluation checks.

Bot management controls automated visits, including search crawlers, scrapers and login attacks.

Which bot controls do you need?

Consider Peakhour when your team wants to combine request behaviour, browser and network fingerprints, proxy signals and route policy in daily bot reviews. Peakhour bot management ties these inputs to allow, log, rate-limit, challenge and block decisions, with request logs to help tune the rules.

Cloudflare offers several levels of bot protection. Its Enterprise Bot Management provides detailed controls within Cloudflare. Staying with it can make sense when those controls already cover your routes and your team has an established review process.

Which Cloudflare product are you comparing?

Cloudflare's Enterprise Bot Management plan is an add-on to Enterprise plans. It exposes bot scores, JA3/JA4 fingerprints and detection IDs, supports path-based controls and provides dedicated bot analytics.

Bot Fight Mode is a simpler free option that challenges traffic matching bot patterns. Cloudflare says WAF custom rules cannot skip it.

Super Bot Fight Mode is included with Pro, Business and Enterprise subscriptions. It adds actions by bot category, analytics and WAF-rule exceptions. Enterprise accounts without the Bot Management add-on receive the Business version of Super Bot Fight Mode.

Ask which of these products your quote includes. Test API and mobile clients because Cloudflare warns that the simpler modes may challenge them. Use the Enterprise feature list when you need custom score-based policies.

What does Peakhour bring to the evaluation?

Peakhour's bot product combines IP and proxy context with fingerprints, route behaviour and WAF findings. Policies can apply different actions to a login request, a product search or an API call. Browser signals depend on what each client provides.

For repeated abuse, Peakhour documents rate-limit zones that can use cookies, headers and network fingerprints as keys. A zone can count failed responses and influence later requests. Test shared networks and common client libraries before choosing a key.

Peakhour's WAF and API protection puts bot controls, WAF rules, rate limits and decision logs into a shared request policy. Compare the work needed to explain a disputed block and safely change that policy in each platform.

Can Cloudflare remain in place?

Peakhour's existing-edge option includes Cloudflare. Scope the integration with your team: check which signals reach Peakhour, where actions execute and how existing Cloudflare rules interact with them.

Keeping Cloudflare alone may be the right choice when Enterprise Bot Management already supplies the controls and request details you need. For a simpler site, the included bot modes may meet the current requirement. Define the unresolved abuse problem before changing providers.

What should a buyer test?

  • Can you set separate actions for browser logins, mobile apps and service-to-service calls?
  • Can operators link a score or fingerprint to a rule, action and business result?
  • Can your team exempt a payment callback without exempting a whole API?
  • Can the policy handle abuse across rotating IP addresses while preserving shared-network users?
  • What log access, retention and support does the proposed agreement include?

Peakhour is Australian-founded and documents support channels by plan. Confirm support hours and escalation contacts in the evaluation.

How should you evaluate or migrate?

  1. Record your Cloudflare plan, bot settings, exceptions and rate rules. Save a rollback copy.
  2. Select an abused route and measure successful user tasks, known abuse and current challenges.
  3. Confirm the traffic path and start the proposed Peakhour policy in logging mode where supported.
  4. Review legitimate browser, mobile, partner and crawler requests alongside abuse samples.
  5. Enforce gradually, measure valid requests blocked and missed abuse, then agree whether to extend the trial or keep the current setup.
